Winsome Wednesday: Liz Earle Botanical Essence No. 1 (review)

Yes, I did just use the word "winsome." It means "charming, appealing, charismatic…" you get the picture. (I could have used any of those words, but I picked the one that began with a "W.") After all the craziness yesterday, I felt today would be a nice day for some charm. In fragrance form. From Liz Earle.

Botanical Essence™ Eau De Parfum No.1

Blurb: For our first ever bespoke fragrance, we’ve used the finest natural botanical ingredients from around the world and the expert skills of a distinguished perfumer from Grasse, France. We gave him the time to indulge in this age-old art, skilfully hand-crafting this complex scent with true passion to create a vibrant, sparkling fragrance translating into warmth and sensuality – and it’s just won its first two UK awards. Over 98% directly derived from natural ingredients, this sensuous fragrance can be worn every day. Spritz generously all over any time your spirits need a boost.

Since Liz Earle is a skincare company (a fabulous one); I wasn't sure what to expect. I imagined it would resemble some of their bath/body care more than an actual stand alone fragrance. Not at all – it's a wonderful, fresh, summery Eau De Parfum!

It begins with lots of crisp, bright lemon and mandarin notes (with a hint of musk). After a few moments, it dries down to a warmer scent that showcases the blend of herbal and floral notes. It's really gorgeous. What also wowed me was the fact that it's made from 98% natural ingredients, yet still lasted well into the day. And as more time went by, the fragrance became warmer and earthier, and a little more of the rose peeked through. Thoroughly charming!

The Eau De Parfum is launching in the U.S. this summer. You can register here to be notified when it arrives (and right now it's available on the U.K. website here). And if you need to do some general browsing, visit the U.S. website (and check out the Summer Newsletter).
