Pretty Drugstore Pout: Revlon ColorStay Liquid Lipstick (review)

Revlon! Why do you keep putting out cute new lip products and then lining them up in a tempting array of colors? What is the matter with you? And why, why, why did you create that amazing photo of Jennifer Connolly with perfect(!) red lips?

The other day, I ran out to the drugstore for light bulbs and came home with…

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate™ Liquid Lipstick
Blurb: Food-proof lipcolor with a built-in, ultra-conditioning topcoat. One-step application- No topcoat required for comfortable wear. Stays comfortable and wears beautifully for up to 12 hours. Does not feather or fade; no touch-ups required, even after meals. Available in 20 full-coverage, soft satin shades

Okay, right off the bat, my lips got compliments at work (that didn't come out at all the way I meant it to, but you know what I mean). And I really love the way this looks – deep, rich color. It doesn't quite look like a lipstick, but it's definitely a lot more substantial than a gloss or stain. I found that the best way to apply is to put on one coat, let dry completely, then add a second coat for really saturated color. The staying power is excellent. I also loved this paired with a sheer gloss (didn't last quite as long, but still hung in there really well).

My two color pics were "Top Tomato" (a great tomato red) and "Top Tier Truffle" (a deep bronze).

Revlon can be found in drugstores like Walgreens, CVS, duane reade, etc. and on sites like drugstore.com. These places also sell light bulbs.
