Yikes. Is it really only Thursday? There’s something about a time change week that just throws everything off kilter. I was wondering why I’d been feeling “off” all week (and why it seemed like everyone else was too). Then I remembered…time change. All of our biological clocks are being fooled around with, and they’re not happy about it. Luckily the week is almost over and soon everything will feel “normal” again.

And when I got a little oiliness around 5pm; I dabbed a bit more on, and the shine disappeared. No blotting, no reapplying makeup or anything. Awesome.

Worth the Wait: Urban Decay Stardust Eyeshadow (review)

Hello everyone! I meant to post this yesterday, but the day was gone before I knew it. Not to worry – that just means you'll be getting two reviews today!

Speaking of waiting (see post title); I had to (gasp!) wait to try this out. There was absolutely no way I could justify buying another shadow this month (especially a purple one). Luckily Sephora came to the rescue – they offered an awesome bag of samples to Beauty Insiders; and one of them was a deluxe sample from Urban Decay.

Stardust Eyeshadow (in "Retrograde")

Blurb: It’s something unexpected in eyeshadow: an explosion of stars. Stardust shadows’ silky texture delivers an incredible amount of sophisticated, twinkling sparkle. I have a whole lot of purple/lavender/violet/mauve shadows on my vanity; and I still found this one to be outstanding. For starters, the shade is gorgeous (purple…duh), and the quality is fabulous. The color stayed put all day - and so did the sparkle! What I also loved about the formula was that the shimmer (created with something called "reflex") didn't make the texture grainy at all. In fact it was really silky.

Instead of looking glittery, the finish is more of a soft twinkle. There's plenty of sparkle, but the effect is kind of a dewy, soft focus. And after it sets, there's a slight "glazed" effect (which added a bit more dreaminess).

I applied it three ways and got three very different results. With a sponge tip, I got lovely, fairly saturated color. With a dry brush, I got a sheer, shimmery wash; and when I used a wet brush, I got stunning, intense color with lots of coverage (almost like a foil effect).

Green-Eyed (Beauty) Monster (quick review/redux)

My weekend was wonderful! I feel renewed!

And, oh my goodness today is hectic!

I had actually planned to spotlight these items last week (what with it being Earth Week and all); but I got sidetracked by other ideas and items. So while it's still Spring, still Earth Month, and I'm still feeling renewed; I thought I'd share a few of my favorite green eye-tems (uh oh, cracked myself up again).

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

To keep the delicate skin around your eyes soft and pretty. This is a wonderful, soothing hydrating eye treatment (and yes, it's green).

Almay Intense i-Color Mascara (in "Black Emerald")

This is more of a greenish-black. But I wanted to include something from the mascara category. Almay has a great formula; and for those of you who are sensitive, it's nice to have something other than plain old black.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (in "Mildew")

This is one of their new colors. It's a lovely forest green with gold flecks. My other UD green favorites are "Covet" (peacock green), and "Stash" (er…Oregano).

LASplash Glitter Eyeliner (in "Kryptonite")

I couldn't find a solo image, but it's the one in the middle. “Kryptonite” is a deep, forest green (almost black) with flecks of green glitter. They also make a gorgeous Lid Splash.

Stila Smudge Pot (in "Jade")

This olive green with glints of gold looks amazing as both a liner and a cream shadow. And the creamy, long-lasting formula is one of the best.

Dior 5 Color Palette (in "Mystic Jade")

I got one of these last year and used it all the time. There's a pale green, a deep olive, and an irridiscent brownish green complemented by a peach and a blue shadow. It's absolutely amazing for spring.

Stila Eye Shadow Pans (In "Cha Cha")

A delicate, pale, seafoam green. Looks great with my dark brown eyes; but I think this is another universally flattering color.

This idea isn't entirely off the wall and frivolous. Green is actually a very flattering and versatile shade, and it's perfect for spring.

Toys! Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland Book of Shadows (review)

Last Friday I happened to mention that I love makeup and beauty products in general, because they allow me to play up the features I love and downplay the features I don't love so much. But that's only one of the many things that have lured me into beauty junkiedom.

One of the biggest reasons for my ongoing love affair with "stuff" is: Playing with all pretty colors. Every morning (and some evenings), I get to spend a few minutes playing with my pretty, colored toys. I'm guaranteed a little bit of girly fun at the start of each day.

Well, you can just imagine how many cartwheels (imaginary cartwheels) my "inner girl" turned when Urban Decay launched their new Shadow Palette.

Alice In Wonderland Book of Shadows Palette

You already know I’m a big fan of UD shadows. Check any of my earlier reviews if you want to know all about the excellent, wearable, long lasting, highly pigmented formulas. In this review, however, I plan to just go on (and on) about how much fun this palette is to play with.

To begin with, the box is gorgeous, fun and has a bit of the UD/Burtonesque edge to it. There's an awesome pop-up scene of Alice among the mushrooms. And like the other "Books," it has the built-in mirror and the cool slide-out drawer.

And the colors! Whoa, Man! There are 16 of UD shadows (with cool Alice-inspired names). My hands down favorite is "Alice." It's an awesome shade of Aqua - kind of like Alice’s dress, but more shimmery (sort of how her dress would look if she had opted for sequins). "Jabberwocky" is another standout. It's a versatile sparkly black that is a dramatic dry shadow and a crazy edgy wet shadow (or liner). The other one I especially loved was "Curiouser" (a sparkly lavender). "Curioser" was great as a creamy wet shadow.

Nekkid (Almost): Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss (review)

To an outsider, it would seem that I'm incapable of passing an Urban Decay display without trying and/or buying something. That outsider would be mostly right. The only times I don't end up with a sample or purchase are when I'm running really late (happens frequently) or wild dogs are nipping at my heels (hardly ever happens). Thursday Lipstick Party (aka Random Lipstick Post and Review)

It seems that I have become a lipstick fiend over the last few months. I still love my glosses, but lately I have been downright fascinated with the super grownup, glam, ladylike vibe of the lipstick tube. (Most of you know this already, since my blog has reflected my lipstick craze.)

Well believe it or not, there are still quite a few tubes that I tried out, but still haven't found time to review. So in the hopes of getting "caught up," I decided to talk about a few of them (non-reds!) today. So let's get the lipstick party started!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Intense Wear Lipstick (In Amethyst Shimmer)

Blurb: “Intense-Wear” formula enriched with 50% more long-wear color-boost pigments. Lasts up to 8 hours! Vitamins C and E provide essential antioxidant protection.

I don’t usually pay attention to fragrances in lip products, but this one smelled really good – but with no flavor. The formula is very creamy and the color is a mauve/pink with a soft shine. I like it during this time of year because it's a nice break from the usual fall/winter colors. It feels silky smooth going on and wears well.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lipstick With Sila-Silk Technology (In Exquisite)

Clinique Butter Shine Lipstick (In Cranberry Cream)

Urban Decay Lipstick (in Oil Slick)

Yes…it's black. I'm a huge fan of UD everything, including their lipsticks. The formula is fantastic and this shade is especially awesome. It's a sheer black with a silver shimmer. It looks fabulous (and flattering) by itself and thoroughly glams up any other color you might want to layer it over. (BTW: UD also has shadow, pencil and liquid liner in this shade…also awesome.)

I wasn't much of a "pencil" person until UD won me over a while back. UD pencils are perfectly, fabulously awesome. They glide on soft and smooth as can be, and then set to stay put forever. Included in this set are "Rockstar" (my current all-time favorite), Zero (black), Graffiti (pretty, bright green), Ransom (iridescent purple) and Stash (the color of…um…oregano). The new colors are Corrupt (sparkling brown), Binge (dark navy), Eldorado (a bright gold) and Oil Slick (black sparkle).

I love them all, but the two new shades I'm craziest about are Eldorado and Oil Slick. Eldorado is a really great "gilded" shade of gold. I like it for lining underneath my eyes, and I can't wait to wear this to holiday parties. Oil Slick is a gorgeous charcoal black – and the sparkle creates a lovely soft-focus effect.

Yee to the Haw: Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Body Shimmer Lotion (review)

Good news for me: I finally found a car and it is parked outside my apartment. Good news for you: You won’t have to read about my car situation any more. Everybody wins!

Since my automotive drama coincided with a review of Urban Decay, it seems only fitting that UD be present at the conclusion. Today I am returning the rental car and then all is ready for life to go on (yah to the hoo).

Midnight Cowboy Body Shimmer Lotion

Finding My Inner Badass: Urban Decay Lipsticks (review)

Oooh, I’m all riled up! Some "person" ploughed into my dear little innocent car on Friday night. And after mashing my poor, defenseless compact with his big, mean, evil truck; he just drove away. No note, no nothing. I’m grateful that no people were hurt; but now poor little Sylvia (name of my car) is at the car doctor while I am driving around in a rental cursing some vile hit-and-run-non-note-leaving truck driver.

So what makes this such a great day to discuss lipsticks from Urban Decay? Well, besides their high quality and gorgeous colors; there's always been an extra something about Urban Decay that seems to really fire me up.

Lipstick

Not your standard Lipstick case, we added more glamour and an Urban twist: Urban Decay Lipstick tubes, made from weighty, purple metal, are pierced with a mini gunmetal dagger. The clear cap is decorated inside and out with two-toned purple flourishes. The effect is multidimensional, and incredibly luxe. Ooh la la.

See? Words like "stray" and "decadent" and "dagger!" This is like, "Hey, I may be wearing vitamin-enriched hydrating lipstick, but I’m a badass! And the packaging…kind of dangerous, kind of tough, kind of “I may have named my car ‘Sylvia,’ but don't cross me – my lipstick has a dagger sticking out of it.”

Badass and beauty together. Urban Decay just may be the only lipstick that can help me work through my hostility issues today and keep my lips supple and attractive. Here are three colors I checked out:

Lovechild – A light, cool pink. This shade somehow manages to be sweet and edgy at the same time. Think Bridgette Bardot. It makes me want to tease my hair, put on lots of eyeliner and look wistfully up at a man in a tuxedo.

Wanted – A warm berry. This is super pretty, romantic and universally flattering. A definite “Kiss me, you fool” color. (Probably best, though, to just think the words “Kiss me, you fool,” rather than actually saying them out loud.)

Trainwreck – A deep fuschia. My favorite. A really saturated shade that also leaves a little stain behind on the lips. Kind of tough, kind of sexy. This one says, “Behave and I'll let you kiss me – I may even give you a ride home.”

I didn’t get to try out Revolution yet, but it looks like a serious contender for the “perfect red.”

I still don’t know why UD gets me so worked up. It’s a cruelty-free line (that even includes Vegan products.) So why does it make me want to go all Mrs. Smith? It’s a mystery. Another mystery is my craving for the Limited Edition Lipstick Cap. Do I need a Limited Edition Lipstick Cap? No. Do I have to have one or I will just die? Yes.

Let’s hope I’m back to my normal, mild-mannered self tomorrow.
