Hair Care Friday: CHI Ceramic Round Boar Brushes (review)

Note to self: get up on other side of bed tomorrow.

This will be a very short posting today. It's been hectic, and for some reason I have been really grumpy all day. I know it's not very pretty of me to share my less than cheerful mood, but there it is. Trust me, I wanted to wait until my mood improved before posting…but it didn't. So pretend I'm a guest blogger: Little Miss Cranky Pants.

My hair is happy, though…thanks to my cool brushes from CHI.

CHI Ceramic Round Boar Brushes

Blurb: Chi Round Boar Bristle Brushes are unqiue because there are no hot or cold spots: the heat reflects back to the hair, cutting down the drying time. The ceramic plates give even temperature and emit Far Infra Red/Negative Ions for a silky, smooth finish when brushing. Evenly cut 100% natural pure boar, stands up to many years of daily use. Suitable for fine, normal and coarse hair with any length or texture. Bristles help eliminates all fly-away hair. Boar gives full control of the hair all the way from the roots to the ends.

Until I started doing at-home blowouts; I had no idea how much of a difference the right brush could make. We curly girls aren't taught such things. Someone at Sally Beauty explained the facts to me one day, though. In addition to some styling tips, she stressed the importance of using a brush made of boar bristles. The bristles smooth the hair, control flyaways, and help give your/my blowout a smooth, shiny finish.

So now I knew. I shopped around and tried out a few brushes, but ended up returning them. They were either flimsy, hard to handle, or just didn't grab my hair. Try #4 was a medium-sized CHI brush. What a difference! Great quality, sturdy, really easy to handle, grabs and holds hair, and gave my blowout fabulous smoothness and shine! They're a little pricier than other brushes (about $10-$15 each), but totally worth it! Go get one (or two)!

I couldn't find the CHI website (grrrrr…), but that might be because I got all whiny when I didn't see it on the first try. But do I know that you can find these brushes at Ulta (stores only) because that's where I got mine.

Hmm...writing that sort of cheered me up.

Note to self: hair care posts have a positive mood altering effect.

  1. Glad posting about hair has a positive mood altering effect on you!

Spending a little extra money on a good quality brush is fine, after all, it's not like we're buying brushes every single day. It's kind of like an investment in your hair, beauty, & self-confidence, right?

Thanks for the heads-up on this Chi!

  2. Hi Katie!

Glad you liked it - I think my cranky mood was due to a cold coming on. Nice to know that hair care even thwarts viruses (lol)!

But you're absolutely right, since it's a one-time expense, it makes sense to spend a little extra.
