Hair Care Friday: Misikko, Hanna and CHI (review and new GIVEAWAY)

Hooray – it’s Friday! It’s also Hair Care Friday! And I’m also hosting another Giveaway! It’s a trifecta of awesomeness.

Today’s giveaway is being sponsored by Misikko. Misikko carries the best flat iron for just about any need, an awesome assortment of professional hair dryers, and a huge selection of top quality hair care products. I got to check out the two items for the giveaway.

Hana Shine Shield

Blurb: Shine Shield is the latest product in a line committed to safe, effective heat styling. Shine Shield is a thermal serum that can be used as a leave-in conditioner - lightweight and never greasy, it protects and strengthens hair whether you use it with a flat iron, hair dryer or alone. Shine Shield contains the natural magic of Jojoba oil for its superb qualities of deep moisturization, fast absorption into hair follicles and scalp, and unparalleled shimmer & shine.

CHI Silk Infusion

Blurb: CHI Silk Infusion™ - Reconstructing Complex is specially formulated for thermal styling and hair repair. CHI Silk Infusion contains no alcohol, so it won't dry your hair out as a leave in treatment - and it'll leave your hair with the head-turning, lustrous shine of pure silk.

I loved both of these products. I’ve been experimenting with a lot of styling tools; and I’m finding out that the right protectants and leave-in products make a huge difference. The Hana Shine Shield is incredibly light weight. I was surprised at how quickly it absorbed (due in part to the jojoba), and how good my hair felt after I straightened it. There was no greasy feel, but my hair felt soft all day. The CHI Silk Infusion is a thoroughly awesome leave-in. I got great shine (even post-flat-iron), and wonderful frizz-control.

Now you can win both of these products and try them out for yourself. Thanks for sponsoring this fab giveaway, Misikko!

How to enter: Send an email to me at ifeelpretty@comcast.net with a comment about any of my 2010 posts. In the meantime, you can also check out the giant selection of other items on the website (I spent way too much time browsing Ed Hardy). And be sure to check out the deals in the Back to School section.

And of course – have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!

Hair Care Friday: CHI Ceramic Round Boar Brushes (review)

Note to self: get up on other side of bed tomorrow.

This will be a very short posting today. It's been hectic, and for some reason I have been really grumpy all day. I know it's not very pretty of me to share my less than cheerful mood, but there it is. Trust me, I wanted to wait until my mood improved before posting…but it didn't. So pretend I'm a guest blogger: Little Miss Cranky Pants.

My hair is happy, though…thanks to my cool brushes from CHI.

CHI Ceramic Round Boar Brushes

Blurb: Chi Round Boar Bristle Brushes are unqiue because there are no hot or cold spots: the heat reflects back to the hair, cutting down the drying time. The ceramic plates give even temperature and emit Far Infra Red/Negative Ions for a silky, smooth finish when brushing. Evenly cut 100% natural pure boar, stands up to many years of daily use. Suitable for fine, normal and coarse hair with any length or texture. Bristles help eliminates all fly-away hair. Boar gives full control of the hair all the way from the roots to the ends.

Until I started doing at-home blowouts; I had no idea how much of a difference the right brush could make. We curly girls aren't taught such things. Someone at Sally Beauty explained the facts to me one day, though. In addition to some styling tips, she stressed the importance of using a brush made of boar bristles. The bristles smooth the hair, control flyaways, and help give your/my blowout a smooth, shiny finish.

So now I knew. I shopped around and tried out a few brushes, but ended up returning them. They were either flimsy, hard to handle, or just didn't grab my hair. Try #4 was a medium-sized CHI brush. What a difference! Great quality, sturdy, really easy to handle, grabs and holds hair, and gave my blowout fabulous smoothness and shine! They're a little pricier than other brushes (about $10-$15 each), but totally worth it! Go get one (or two)!

I couldn't find the CHI website (grrrrr…), but that might be because I got all whiny when I didn't see it on the first try. But do I know that you can find these brushes at Ulta (stores only) because that's where I got mine.

Hmm...writing that sort of cheered me up.

Note to self: hair care posts have a positive mood altering effect.
