Happy Pretend Thursday! Olay Purely Pristine™ Body Wash, Bar Soap and Body Lotion (review)

I know…Thursday was a few days ago. I wrote my Thursday and Friday reviews last week; but then things got so hectic and crazy that I never had a chance to actually post them. I could have written “Happy Pristine Thursday” if I had been on time with my postings. But instead…last Thursday is being brought to you now. Along with some fine items from Olay.

This line features refreshing spa-like fragrances, and soothing formulas that feel lovely and pampering. The Body Washes had a wonderful, crisp scent, cleaned well and left my skin soft and smelling pretty. The body bar had a textured side, that not only cleaned, but gave my tired muscles a gentle massage. The lotion felt soothing, softened my skin and had a slightly warmer version of the Body Wash/Bar fragrances.

I really enjoyed this line (and each of these items is somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 each). Fabulous value!

Even Happier Tuesday: Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System (review)

Tomorrow it’s back to work, but today I’m all smiley and floaty. Even though it may be hectic tomorrow, right now I’m feeling relaxed, grateful and happy. And…mighty pretty too. Today’s lovely item is from Olay.

Advanced Cleansing System

I’ve been a gigantic fan of Olay’s Professional Pro-X everything since I tried it almost two years ago (here’s the review). I was already prepared to like this Cleansing System, and I was not disappointed.

First – it’s a tremendous value! It comes with a 2-speed facial cleansing brush (with replaceable/refillable brush head), 2 batteries, and a small tube of Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser. The only thing I wished it had were directions; but after a couple of minutes I figured out how to insert the batteries (pull and jiggle), and that that top button was the on/off switch, and the bottom button was the speed selector.

It works wonderfully! The quality is excellent, the brush felt lovely, and cleaned gently. The Cleanser worked very well, and my face was perfectly clean. The gentle vibrations also livened up my skin as well. The brush is well made, fits nicely in my hand, and is water resistant (so you can take it in the shower). Also…its small size, and the fact that it uses batteries (instead of a charger) makes it perfect for travel.

Oh, and the price tag is just under $30. Once again…A+ Olay!

Cover Up? Gasp! COVERGIRL & Olay Simply Ageless Concealer and Corrector (review)

For the last few days, I've been having a very enthusiastic email conversation about truth and honesty. I like to think I'm a pretty open person. I like to think that; but I'm not always sure if I actually manage to live up to my ideals. I deeply value honesty and open communication; but sometimes I fall short of the mark by taking the easy way out with a white lie, or something less than full disclosure.

Now I certainly don't think it's always appropriate to be 100% honest and open. There are plenty of things that should be kept to myself only...but there are also times when I place someone else's opinion above being truthful and authentic. Lately, when I've been catching myself at this, I try to remedy the situation by coming clean. Guess what…it's way more embarrassing to "fess up" than it is to tell the truth in the first place.

In the case of beauty, however, I think artifice is 100% perfectly absolutely fine. Actually, it's one of the coolest things about it! Bringing out my best features and downplaying (okay, hiding) the ones I'm not so fond of is a-ok in my book. That said; let's mosey on over to our two products from Cover Girl & Olay designed to help with the "refashioning of perception."


Simply Agless Concealer

Last August, I posted a glowing (heh heh) review of a blush from this collection; so I was pretty excited to check out these two items. Happily, I was also impressed by how well both products worked. I used the Concealer under my foundation and got great coverage. Right now I have a little scratch in the corner of my eyelid. It's healing, but it still shows. The Concealer completely hid the scratch and sat well under my foundation. The Corrector was also excellent. It did a fabulous job of hiding the "I woke up in the middle of the night worrying about a bunch of stupid stuff" dark circles. Both items had a nice smooth formula, and both also contain Olay Regenerist Serum for an extra skincare boost.

Monday Musings: Olay Regenerist (review)

I wish I could come up with a clever connection between "Regenerist" and Columbus Day. But…can't. Nada.

Maybe something about how I spent yesterday re-charging my batteries for the coming week? You know, "regenerating?" Okay, not super clever, but I'll take it. I am working today and my brain is already full.

Anyway, products from Olay don't really need my cleverness. Especially the Regenerist line. The awards and fab reviews are already impressive without my little tie-ins. I checked out a couple of products from this line, and now I fully understand what all the raves are about.

Regenerist Regenerating Serum

The first thing I noticed about this serum was the smooth, velvety feel. It goes on beautifully and sits very well under makeup. It instantly made my face look smoother and also created a bit of a soft-focus glow. This would actually make an amazing primer…a "super" primer with an amino peptide complex.

Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream

Proven Performance from the Drugstore: Olay, Pantene & Clairol

Lately I have been so gratified by some of the amazing values available in the beauty world. Of course I crave all of the amazing prestige beauty products that are out there; but this year has been a financial roller coaster, so I'm deeply appreciating the tried and true (and affordable) drugstore options.

I just got some great information (and stuff to try out) from the Proctor & Gamble beauty lines and I can’t wait to test them out and report back. I have a lot of confidence in P&G. I’ve been a fan of Pantene; and a while back, I was blown away by Olay Pro-X.

Instead of the latest launches; I’ll be checking out a few items that already have excellent track records: Olay Regenerist, Pantene Full & Thick and Clairol Perfect 10. These products have been tested by experts, won a bunch of awards and have really performed like crazy. It takes a while to test everything out and write about it; so in the meantime, I’d love to hear comments from any of you out there in Beauty Land.

A to the MEN! O to the LAY!: Olay Pro X (review)

Four weeks ago I started checking out Olay Professional Pro-X skincare. It took me a while to get started, so I feel like I’m a little late to the party. (But better to be late than miss the whole party.) I tried five items and gave them a full four weeks (yes I actually read the package directions). Honestly, though, I could have written this after two or three weeks because that’s when I started seeing results. Here’s what I used:

Pro-X Eye Restoration Complex

That’s great…but how did they make me look? Well, after about two weeks of using Pro-X, my skin looked fresher and prettier. And smooth. Really smooth. I also started getting compliments. From friends. Not bad.

The Eye Cream is fantastic. (I used day and night.) It’s the perfect weight for all day/all night hydration and my whole eye area is definitely looking smoother. I also used the deep wrinkle treatment morning and evening and have noticed a teensy lessening of some of my more er…“established” lines. (I have a feeling that because these lines have been “established” for a while, it may take more than four weeks to see a substantial change.)

I did take a slight detour from the directions and used the Wrinkle Smoothing Cream in the mornings, and the Hydra Firming Cream before bed (on my face and neck). Both creams feel wonderful. Both absorb quickly and leave my skin velvety soft. And I have to say that my skin just plain looks better – even in the morning. It’s softer, smoother and glowier (I wonder if that’s really a word). I’m also thrilled that this regimen includes an SPF30 lotion! It felt great, absorbed quickly, was very makeup friendly and worked well with the other products

After all I’d heard about Pro-X, I definitely expected to see at least some results. But I got better than I expected. These products really work and really work well together. My skin looked and felt better, and there was no irritation or breakouts. A to-the PLUS, Olay!
