Alterna was responsible for one of my favorite looks of the evening. Anne Hathaway’s sophisticated 70’s-inspired look was amazing. January Jones and Emma Stone were rocking their looks too.

Fabulous treatment! I had a chance to give it a really good test this week too. I’ve been trying out a bunch of hairstyles and styling products because I wanted a really elaborate hairdo for Halloween. It turns out I don’t look that great with elaborate hair; but it took several tries and a whole slew of gels, sprays, sculpting products, and whatnot to find that out. It was pretty fun experimenting; but after I was done, my hair was in need of serious repair.

Hair Care Friday: Alterna Hemp Shine and Texturizing Catalyst (review)

Yay – it's Friday! Again! I'm spending the weekend in New York with my dear friend, and I can't wait. I suspect there will be a great deal of girl talk. But before I zip off, let me introduce you to my new blowout buddy from Alterna.

Excellent! This is truly the product to have for your blowout. It smooths, de-frizzes, and adds tons of natural-looking (non-greasy) shine without weighing hair down. The bottle suggests a quarter-sized amount, but I added extra to the ends. I couldn't believe how well it worked! My hair was shiny, manageable and soft – without using a leave-in conditioner. And best of all, I got (unsolicited) compliments all day at work. A+!

For the last couple of months I’ve been doing all kinds of new things to my naturally curly hair. In addition to my usual coloring; I’ve been blowing it out, flat ironing it and generally trying to find out how many different things it can do (answer: a lot). Needless to say I’m always on the look out for products that will make my hair look good, but also give it extra TLC.

This color gloss does a whole lot of good things. It provides nice, nurturing ingredients that protect my color, and make my hair happy, smoother and healthier without weighing it down. I liked using this on my curls as well as after a blowout. But it really shone (sorry) when I smoothed it on after using the flat iron. It gave my hair a soft, shiny, fly-away-free finish without activating any waves or curls.
