Golden Globes: Lea Michele, Jennifer Lawrence and Dove

Check out Mark Townsend’s hair looks for nominees, Lea Michele and Jennifer Lawrence (using Dove Hair Care)

Lea Michele (Nominee for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical for her breakout role in “Glee.”)

Dove celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend created a modern and fresh hair look for Lea Michele. “I wanted to give Lea a young and modern look. I played off the movement and ruffles of her gorgeous gown to give her a loose chignon that was all about soft, subtle glamour.”

Here’s how to get Lea Michele’s look:

“One of the best parts of my job is I get to take home products before they’re available on shelves. I gave Lea the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care System a couple of weeks ago – her hair goes through a lot on her show. When using the whole system it can smooth up to 100% of roughness and frizz.

“I told Lea to arrive with clean, just washed hair. I started her look tonight by applying Dove Nourishing Oil Care Serum to wet hair to smooth any frizz and add shine.

“Next, to add a bit of texture and volume rake a pump of Dove Curl & Sculpt Defining Mousse throughout damp hair and blow dry with a round brush.

“Then wrap two inch sections of hair around a ¾ inch curling iron to create big, loose curls. This will help create soft texture around the face.

“Rub a pea sized amount of the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-In Smoothing Cream between hands. Rake fingers through the hair to distribute the product evenly and create definition and shine.

“Pull the sides and back into a low, messy chignon at the nape of the neck and secure with bobby pins.

“Carefully pull out pieces in the front of the hair to frame the face.

“To finish Lea’s look I sprayed Dove Unscented Extra Hold Hairspray with Natural Movement (Aerosol) throughout the hair to give it hold without looking frozen in time. It’s a soft, “up-ish” do that looks like it could fall down at any moment, but really it’s not going anywhere!”

Jennifer Lawrence (Nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture for "Winter's Bone")

To go with the excitement of Jennifer Lawrence’s first Golden Globes, Dove celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend created a textured chignon with subtle glamour. “The ruffle in her dress goes from top to bottom, but the gown is still very fitting so to complement that I kept her hair close to her head but with a few purposely placed flyaways – I didn’t want it to be slicked back,” said Townsend.

Here’s how to get Jennifer Lawrence’s look:

“Jennifer’s changed her hair color so many times for X-Men so she’s been using the Dove Nourishing Oil Care System to get it back in shape. It turns what could be dry and unmanageable hair into soft and smooth hair. I love the Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner to give hair a treatment in the time it takes to condition your hair.

“To start this look take a drop of the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care Serum and rake through wet hair to start out with soft and smooth hair and then blow out the hair with round brush to get optimal volume at the roots.

“Spritz Dove Heat Defense Therapy Mist throughout to protect against styling damage.

“Take 1 inch sections of hair and wrap it around a ½ inch curling iron in alternate directions to create texture in the bun.

“Rub a dime-sized sized amount of the Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-in Smoothing Cream throughout the hair. The weightless oil blend gives amazing shine and texture.

“ Spray a dry texturizing spray all over the hair and pull hair back into a ponytail in the middle of the back of the head – not into a low ponytail. Then wrap into a chignon and secure with bobby pins.

“Jennifer is energetic and young, so to complement that I used a pomade with shimmer for some subtle sparkle.

“Finish the look by spraying Dove Flexible Hold Hairspray with Natural Movement (Aerosol) to set the style but still allow movement.

  1. You posted a picture of Lea the 2010 awards not how she was made up for the 2011 awards.

So the picture and the description do not match.

  2. OMG...and DUH! You're right (I just fixed it)! For some reason I had "black" in my head because of Jennifer Lawrence's dress.

Thanks for pointing that out - this is what happens when I don't pay attention.
