The Color of Monday: The Jewelry Box Palette from Tarte (review)

Since today was cold and rainy; I thought a giant splash of color might liven things up. Here’s some beautiful beauty sunshine from Tarte (by way of Sephora).

Holiday 2010: The Jewelry Box

Blurb: An exclusive, limited-edition palette packed with 32 new eyeshadows, eight lip glosses, a mineral bronzer, a new shimmering powder, five deluxe long-wearing eyeliners, and a detachable necklace. This versatile palette is a veritable treasure trove packed with new and limited-edition products and shades along with such Tarte bestsellers as a full-size of Park Avenue Princess Mineral Powder Bronzer. As an added bonus, this festive jewelry box comes with its own "off the chain" gilded trinket, guaranteed to be your go-to accessory for holiday parties and year-round.

This set is exclusive to Sephora, and I was ogling it forever before taking one home. It’s one of the best sets of the season.

To begin with, it’s an amazing value. It contains 32 full-sized shadows (16 each of shimmering and matte), 8 glosses, a full-sized mineral bronzer, a highlighting powder, 5 liners and cute gold and black necklace. They’re all housed in a gorgeous, well made, quilted gold box.

I loved the lip and cheek products. The glosses are pretty, and the Park Avenue Princess Bronzer is outstanding. I also thought the eyeliners were excellent. But the real stars of this palette are the shadows.

These are wonderful, excellent-quality Tarte shadows in 32 fabulous chic colors. This is an eye shadow lover’s dream! There are soft pastels, lovely neutrals, metalics, deep smoky shades, and intense jewel tones. The variety is dizzying. Not only are they fabulous shadows, but they also do double duty as liners when applied with a wet brush. The possibilities are endless. This is more of a collection than a palette. It’s truly extraordinary!

This can only be purchased at Sephora; but I suggest visiting the Tarte website if you get a chance and reading up on their skinvigorating ingredients and learning a bit more about their commitment to Green Beauty.

And check out this video (all about the Jewelry Box)…

Your Thursday Face: Tarte Clean Slate Primer (review)

First – a big shout out to a very good friend! We had dinner a year ago today, and it’s been awesome having you in my life! Today is also International Beverly Hills 90210 Day (I won’t go into details, but here’s a link if you want to know more).

And of course today is also…Thursday. Which means a fabulous new product for your pretty face. Today’s is from Tarte.

Clean Slate Natural Face Primer

Blurb: We firmly believe that a few lines are a sign of a life well-lived. On the other hand, there is something awfully enticing about getting to start anew…This natural primer helps makeup stay in place longer while preventing creasing in fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike other primers, clean slate™ contains natural fruit and plant derived extracts to treat, protect, sooth and hydrate the skin.

Sometimes a clean slate is the very thing that’s needed. I'm working on creating one in my personal life right now. In addition to clearing a lot of clutter from my apartment, I also decided to clear a lot of things out. One recent decision was to stop pursuing an opera career. It feels sad; but it also feels like a huge relief. There are other creative venues I want to pursue, and I desperately needed some space to start over.

So it kinda makes sense that something called “Clean Slate Primer” would appeal to me today. And in addition to the thoroughly appropriate name; it’s also a really fine product. It smoothes on easily, absorbs quickly and makes my foundation last hours longer (especially in summer weather). I also love that Tarte makes a consistent (and successful) effort to create products that nourish the skin.

You can read more about skin friendliness as well as green beauty on the website. You can also find out how to earn Tarte tokens, and check out the blog. Tarte is also found at Sephora and Beauty.com.

And…I just couldn’t let 90210 Day pass without a video link. I wasn’t able to embed the video (and it has commercials) – but it’s worth a look just to get a glimpse of Steve’s perfectly coiffed hair (and check out David’s shirt in the picture…dude).

Monday Girly Love: Tarte emphasEYES™ Inner Rim Eyeliner (review)

Sorry my review is so late! I have a guest from out of town, and our girly weekend is still going on. So far it’s been talking, laughing, shopping, more talking, browsing, chick flick, talking, dinner, lunch, and…talking. It’s been pretty awesome.

But I still couldn’t let the day go by without telling you about one of my new favorite things. From Tarte Cosmetics.

emphasEYES™ Natural High Definition Inner Rim Eyeliner Pencil

Blurb: This super-slim pencil is a must when trying to achieve a sexy smokey eye. The result? That smoldering look that you see in all the magazines but aren’t sure how to create – this is the finishing touch.

I love, love, LOVE the look of wetlining! I think it looks super sexy and sophisticated. But finding a liner for the inner rim can be tricky. You need a non-irritating formula that will also stay put for a reasonable amount of time. Since I wear contact lenses, I have to be especially careful about anything that comes close to the eye surface. And wetlining isn’t for everyone.

That said, I am thoroughly sold on this liner! It’s very very skinny and perfect for getting right up near the lash line. It’s very soft (so no scratching or irritation during application). It also stays sharpened. What sold me, though, was how long it lasted. No rim liner stays put all day; but my morning application lasted almost three hours. That’s amazing. And after it did wear off, I didn’t notice any residue around the eye area at all. Excellent!

If you’re not interested in wetlining; you’ll still find this a very useful liner. It’s extremely thin, and great for getting tiny perfect lines when you want them. (My only complaint is that there aren’t more colors.)

Check out the website. You can spend hours ogling the awesome girly things. Make sure to read the Tarte Blog and enter the Summer Beauty Giveaway while you’re there. Tarte is also sold at Sephora and Beauty.com.

Happy (girly) Monday!
