Twice Beaten, Twice Soothed: Face Masques from Montagne Jeunesse (review)

Sorry there was no post on Friday. Yet again I had my backside beaten (figuratively, of course) by various and sundry circumstances. Once by the snow, and a second time by a schedule that had to be rearranged…then rearranged again. By yesterday, my metaphorical derriere was pretty darn sore.

So today seems like a perfect time to talk about a couple of nice pampering, soothing, stress-reducing products. Since the weekend spanked me twice, I'm reviewing two face masques from Montagne Jeunesse.

(And I promise to knock it off with the bottom imagery now. Especially since these are face masques.)

Chocolate Mud Masque (anti-stress)

Blurb: Chocolate, yes, it’s chocolate. A guilt free treat! This masque offers a feast of creamy delights – it’s outrageous! This deep cleansing masque helps unblock pores, moisturizes and heals for skin that glows with health. It smells incredible – imagine these – Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter – creamy heaven. Enjoy! Gluten Free. No Added Parabens.

Cucumber Purifying Peel-Off Masque (anti-stress)

Blurb: So easy to use and it actually feels as though you are peeling away dead and dry skin. You’ll love the opaque green texture – it’s really fresh. After a few minutes the masque will start to dry and your face will feel tight – it’s quite amusing. When completely dry you should be able to pull off in one piece – this is all part of the fun! Your skin will feel instantly smoother, clearer and refreshed, it’s fabulous. This masque is great for use once a week as a skin detox. Suitable For Vegans. Gluten Free. Dairy Free. No Added Parabens.

These masques are inexpensive enough to indulge in whenever you feel like it. A little basket of them would also make a nice gift. The Chocolate Masque really looks, smells and feels like creamy chocolate frosting. I spread it on my face and enjoyed the yummy chocolate fragrance while my pores were being purified. When I rinsed, my skin felt clean and balanced.

The Cucumber Masque was also wonderful. It didn't smell exactly like cucumber; but it did have a nice, fresh scent. It smoothed on easily and felt very tingly. The instructions say to "relax and drift into pleasant thoughts," so I made sure to do that. After the masque dried, it peeled off easily and left my skin soft and smooth.

In addition to creating fun and reasonably priced products (my masques were $1.79 at Ulta); Montagne Jeunesse believes that products should be made with minimal processing, using natural ingredients derived from plant and mineral sources. Many of their products are dairy free and suitable for vegans. They also consider environmental impact when designing their packaging.

The website has tons of masks, sachets, tonics, and hair and body products. Sign up to learn about their commitment to animal welfare, Gorgeous Free Stuff, seasonal stuff and stuff that's on sale. You can also find their products at grocery stores, drug stores, Ulta, and Neoteric.

Happy Monday!
